Event Details

The Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County and the Miami PrEP Workgroup are excited to invite you to the virtual Miami PrEP Implementation Summit on Wednesday, October 27th, 2021 from 2:00-4:00pm!

Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from experienced PrEP providers and content experts on best practices for providing PrEP care in Miami-Dade County. The event will feature three presentations from leading experts on PrEP care in Miami-Dade County on barriers to care they encountered and how they overcame these obstacles. A local content expert will then present on how to build a protocol and share best practices. The event will conclude with a PrEP implementation case study and Q&A session.

The Summit is being held to celebrate PrEP Awareness Week, which runs from October 25-29th. PrEP Awareness Week is observed the last week of October each year. PrEP, or HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis, is a medication that people can take to promote their sexual health and prevent HIV. PrEP Awareness Week is celebrated to bring increased awareness to the efficacy and availability of PrEP as an HIV prevention tool. The week also seeks to highlight how PrEP can work for Miami-Dade’s residents, with an emphasis on celebrating the diversity and strength of our communities.
